What Did Your Dog Name You? | Ear Biscuits

Rhett & Link are going back down the rabbit hole to discuss what dogs call their owners, pet ownership, and why Link is so okay with dog poop in the house on …. как нарисовать волка на двери туалета

    • Gjoeh I only watch these on YouTube because of the dogs. Otherwise I’d just listen to them on Spotify.

  1. When ever I think «rabbit hole» i think alice in wonderland, and when I think «rabbit trail» I think about the beginning of the matrix when neo had to follow the white rabbit… but what do i know? i’m not much of a social media guy.

  2. I thought key lime pie was a thing The Sims made up. We don’t have it in Australia, or if we do it’s not a popular dish.

  3. The time I have spent watching this one has been greatly utilized. Link makes me happy to be alive. Change up. Where is the wasted time not used for scarcity?

  4. I love that this podcast was just Rhett and Link talking about their dogs! This is just one of the many reasons why I love you guys.

  5. There are people who are offended by the word dog owner? Geez! All these sjws trying to bend language to fit their socio-political agendas make me sick. I hope Rhett and Link won’t ever become this way. They are smarter than that.

    • While that may seem true on the surface, Rhett is pretentious, and you shouldn’t fall for his tricks. He’s a manipulator, while Link puts on no airs, and is simply easygoing, in general (which would appear to be a submissive trait, at face-value). I don’t believe this topic is very important anyhow, but after observing these two for some time, it’s quite plain to see.

    • Billy Reynolds I really don’t think he is, if you watch a lot of episodes them, you’ll see from their story’s that they handle things very different. Links reactions are normally a lot more vicious to say. Rhett’s are more avoiding conflict all the time.

  6. My dog knew the names of everyone in our household (My mom could say, «Where’s Sarah? Go get Sarah!» and Max would immediately come find me,) so I have to imagine that she associated the phonetic sound of my name with me and my place in her pack’s hierarchy. That’s probably the closest you can get to a dog «calling» you something in the sense of labeling your presence in her life.

    • mikeysrose Thats cool! Also if your mom says Sarah and Max gets it right he immediately places your name with you and knows which one you are.

    • My dog does that too. She did it even more often when she was younger. If me or my sister told her, «go with mommy (our mom) or go with daddy (our dad), she’d go to them. She’d do the same thing if our mom told her to find me, my sister or our dad.

  7. I’ve heard that dogs learn to distinguish between the sounds of the various vehicles that people in the household drive. So it’s entirely possible that Jade can hear your car coming without being able to see either you or your car, and thus she expects to find you at the door within a certain length of time after hearing your car outside. When my stepdad came home from work, Max would regularly jump up off the living room floor woofing and wagging her tail a minute before we heard him raise the garage door.

    • mikeysrose my phone aparently wanted me to respond idk what ur comment is about or anything but i cant get out of this without commenting /: annoying phone issues

  8. My 4-legged roommate’s name is 2 Minutes for Trouble. He’s a cat, but i almost always refer to him as my 4-legged roommate.
He almost always refers to me as . . . well, various words that you’re never going to hear on the Disney Channel.

  9. It makes me sad on how they talk about cats. They are very lovable!! They basically dogs!!(or at least mine is) And Link, that is not all that cats do! Rhett, when cats bring dead animals they are establishing you as part of their pack and that they care about you! Also, if you were to leave a cat outside 30% become feral and 10% of that 30 dies and the other 70% gets captured and taken to a shelter. So no they would not be fine on there own outside. Also you did a GMM episode where you said dogs ate their owners. And cats do love you as much as dogs. They just show it a different way. And my cats respond to praise and one of them also responds to food too. And it depends on the breed of the cat because each cat is either more wild or less wild. If you leave a ragdoll out there it will a) get killed b) get taken c) die because it could not defend or hunt for itself. Now if you were to leave like a Bengal out there it could be fine, it also depends on how it was raised and the personality or the cat. Also when I’m sick my cat stays by my side till I’m better. Sometimes I would have to shoo them a way to make sure they eat and drink. Cats also look you in the eyes. It it one of their ways of showing affection. Also meowing to you is one of their ways of showing affection because they don’t really meow to other cats. But if you don’t like cats I can’t change that.

    • SalaCommander26 no, they are useful, they provided companionship, they are breed to do many jobs which include saving lives of people, and having fun! And it also depends on the breed and other things if they are gonna tear up the house.

  10. Listening to people talking about their own dogs is one of the most boring things ever….love you guys and usually love your biscuits. this one was just not for me

  11. I love it that you guys are taking your amazing, funny podcast with this premise of being funny and chatting with each other, and actually saying some things that can educate some people who are listening! Dog behavior is pretty important to understand and know about, specifically for dog owners, but great for anyone to know a few basics about it. The things you guys were saying about us projecting our emotions onto our pets, and how they don’t emote like humans was spot on and so great for people to realize. Also your small stop on positive reinforcement was great too, as that is proven to be the most effective way to train a dog! Thanks so much for this podcast (as well as your many others), I love everything about it!!

  12. Aw, man…papillons are the absolute most impossible to house break. Link got a double whammy of a challenge there with Jade.

    • KrystalJeannine papillons are not hard to house break…it’s the owners. And jade is not even a papillon

    • @OppositeofHATE7 Link said that Jade is a mix of dachshund and papillon, thus my comment. Also, I have a 13 year old papillon that I have been rigorously trying to housebreak for…well, 13 years. Again, thus my comment. My pap just really loves to pee in hidden corners of the house, like Jade. Maybe it’s me, but I have had 4 other dogs in my life and none of them had accidents in the house past the early puppy stage. *shrugs*

  13. I love how Link implied he and/or his wife are kids. «One of the other kids»… or maybe he just meant Jade is one of the kids? Well, it’s already established that Jade is his favorite child and his own baby.

  14. This one was waaay too relatable lol. We have a ~1 yr old dachshund pomeranian mix that we’re still struggling to house break.

  15. I’m not listening to this podcast if they’re gonna be hating on cats, I’m honestly so over people speaking negatively and spreading misinformation about cats.

    • Arcangela Creamsicle I love cats so much, but don’t take them seriously. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. If you don’t wanna watch because they said they didn’t like cats, then maybe just stay off the internet because there’s a lot more stuff that can hurt your feeling on there.

    • I do understand that they give off a bad image of cats. But we should just give them a break tbh. They did a disclaimer that they don’t know a lot about cats in the first place- hence, they just give their own raw opinions about them. They weren’t also allowed to look up answers over the internet until the end so they couldn’t correct themselves, too. We all have this general basic opinion over things we’re not familiar about. If you look at their old videos, they didn’t even want to adopt dogs in the first place! But look at them now, they’re inlove with their furpanions! I do hope in the future, we’ll see growth in their perspective of cats when they finally give themselves a chance to experience actually bonding with them.

  17. Rhett those hairless cats are not technically hairless, they still have hair it just so short and thin you can really feel it and you can’t see the hair so they are furpanions.

  18. Hairless cats are Purrpanions. (Well, all cats are. Furpanions is a broader category for all mammalian pets.)

  19. Rhett says » if I’m going to walk down a rabbits trail, in search of the rabbits. I always carry my lucky rabbits foot, and it can’t be hot outside.»

  20. That wood cake is awesome looking, Link says «Rhett I think that wood cake, was strawberry cream cheese.»

  21. If your dog is going to treat your house like a glorified toilet why not get some of those puppy potty trays with the removable washable fake grass and train your pup to use that instead.. if you get a few and place them where the pup likes to ‘go’ the most it might atleast make clean up easier ?

    • T Lasa he said it’s the breed. Jade knows she’s supposed to go outside, she just runs off anyway. So I don’t think that would solve the problem of her sneaking off.

    • I don’t think he can blame it on the breed, I’ve had them for years and none of mine have ever had trouble being potty trained, on the other hand my mom has always had trouble with them. I think it is because dachshunds are extremely stubborn and you have to spend extra time training them. But once you succeed they are smart enough to know for life. Also I know people have different ideas about alphas and stuff but dachshunds seem to need to know you’re the boss or they won’t listen about anything. (I personally don’t spank pets but the spray bottle worked great for me!)

  22. Complete myth that Dogs mouths are clean.. they are very, very dirty and vets actually prefer to keep your dog from licking its wounds. Please don’t let your dog lick your mouth…

  23. I’m willing to bet «I’m not much of a social media guy» has to do with the stranger things cast members coming to GMM next week

  24. Dog version of Ear Biscuits:

Today at the round table of dim lighting, we are going to answer the question:

What did your human name you?

  25. Yall should do an episode where you hang out with cats for a while. I know you’ve had cats before for like a few minutes, but cats can be really sweet and adorable. My cat (see my icon) Is super sweet and he responds to his name, demands hugs by pawing at me and sleeps on my feet when ever I take a nap <3 He also talks to me by meowing, cats don't generally meow at each other, they just use meows when "talking" to humans lol.

    • I hope they do, too! It’d be nice for them to live their life realising that cats just show their love in a different way!

  26. I love Ear Biscuits! As a long-time Mythical Beast, these two just riffing off each other and chatting reminds me of the old days and it’s so nice. I could listen/watch them talk to each other about anything for hours. Love all their content, but EB has a special place in my heart.

  27. Love you guys, but the cat talk was pretty ignorant. Cats tend to act more wild because of the way their owners treat them. If you kick a cat outside the house for long periods of time, yeah, it’s going to adapt to that environment. Treat a cat with the same love and attention you would a dog, and you’ll find there isn’t much of a difference.

  28. I love all animals but i am a dog person, not a cat person. My roommate has a cat and his cat and i HATE each other hahaha

  30. I always enjoy your podcast guys, but this one was all over the place. «Going down the rabbit hole» is a good idea, but there needs to be some more structure. Maybe one focused topic is what suits you guys the most?

  31. I don’t like the way they badmouth cats with no evidence for any of their reasoning.(Specifically Rhett)(But Link says wrong stuff too) They make it seem as though cats are horrible animals when really they are sweet just as dogs are.

    • The Klaw I do understand that they give off a bad image of cats.

    • The Klaw there are copious amounts of evidence that cats eat their owners if the owners pass away and the cats are left without food. Cats aren’t too far from their natural wild ancestors, unlike dogs, and their survival instincts kick in easily.

  32. How come Rhett can say ‘howling’ with the L but with ‘growling’ he seems to have trouble with the L lol

  33. I have a horse named Hunter and he always whinnies when he sees me so we say that his name for me is «herher.» ♡

  34. I couldnt watch pass the dog stuff. Pack Leader theory has been debunked. You need to train your dogs not think they are trying to their «pack leader».

  35. I miscarried today and have been an emotional wreck. I still am, my eyes are puffy and sore from crying and I have no one to talk to about it, but I’ve had my Ear Biscuits playlist on for 4 hours now and it’s been a great distraction and you’ve even made me laugh a couple of times. I know it’s probably weird for me to leave this comment because it’s such a heavy topic, but thank you Rhett and Link and the Mythical crew for doing what you do. You’ve no idea the comfort and laughter you bring to peoples lives when they need it the most.

    • I’m so sorry. It is a very lonely thing to experience, as I went through the same thing last year. Interestingly enough, Rhett & Link helped to distract me and make me smile as well. Praying you’ll work through the grief and know joy in your heart.

    • E J oh no I’m so sorry you’ve had to experience this too. It really is so awful and such a unique pain, I don’t think anyone else could fathom how heartbreaking it is to experience that until they do. Thank you so much for your kind words and I hope you’re doing okay xx

  36. My question is how do dogs, when communicating with each other, refer to their humans? They can’t mimic a smell.

  37. I think my dogs call me nose lick cause everytime they want to say hi they try to lick my nose. Really though think they can reconize my name and stuff.

  38. My dog is half doxie. The potty issue is real! He’s 5 and we’re still fighting with it. Also, as a cat and a dog owner; The cat pees in a box. Don’t have to worry about stepping in the cat puddles while stumbling to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Yes, a cat might eat you after you die, but dogs do that too. It really depends on the breed. A dog might snap and bite you to death too. Any animal had the potential to be vicious!

    • I don’t understand why some people have such trouble with dachshunds! I’ve had them for years and never had an issue potty training them. My sister either; ours have always been easy to train, yet my mom has had several that could never be fully trained their whole lives.

  39. I just adopted a cat from the shelter and he chose me! As soon as I went up to him he wanted to climb up my leg, into my arms, and give me a hug, which he did. It was so cute..he just wanted to be loved so much. I had to take him home with me.

  40. Thank you for rewarding us for who were going to read the book (not talking too much about the pet chapter) . I appreciate it tbh because I’ve been skipping parts of vids when you start talking about the book since I’m not done yet.
